ARJUN VERMA, sitar, began learning North Indian classical music with his father, Roop Verma. As a teenager, he studied with Ali Akbar Khan for eight years, and since the Maestro’s passing in 2009, with his son, Alam Khan. Arjun has performed around the world and garnered critical acclaim from the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and Sruti Magazine. He has appeared with renowned musicians in many genres, including Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, Pandit Sharda Sahai, and Bob Weir.

NIKHIL PANDYA, tabla, studied under Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri and has been performing in the Bay Area and beyond for over 25 years. A well-known figure within the Hindustani music community, Nikhil has appeared with Bhikhubhai Bhavsar, Budhaditya Mukherjee, and Krishna Mohan Bhatt.

RHIANNON LEDWELL, tanpura, currently studies at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael with Alam Khan and Arjun Verma. Rhiannon has a BFA in music composition from the California Institute of the Arts and previously studied sitar under Shubhendra Rao and Aashish Khan.

This performance is dedicated to the memory of Paul Clipson, who passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Paul was a gifted artist and vital member of this community. He was also a great and loyal friend.
